For Closed Eyes, 2017
An exploration into the textural and visual languages of ideological, emotional, and compassionate empathy. A large bowl full of sand and porcelain pebbles to create a positive textural experience, with a visual tessellation of rain falling on the ocean. The visual is made to close ones eyes the bowl is made to possibly, give one a break.
Convivial Series, 2017
An exploration into the visual language of ideological, emotional, and compassionate empathy. Clay tablets with lists of a person’s travels to different locations in everyday life, highlighted with a empathetic act in daily life. The process is made to be scientifically sound, as it is a recalling of the prior day lived, outside of any influence of the interview or artist. A technical note, the clay bread is not sculpted in this piece, it is grown, fired and egg washed.
Molds of Daily Sympathy, 2016
A collaboration between strangers, friends, students, and myself from China, Japan, and all over the United States. The projects goal was to create molds for kindness, and as such all pieces of these molds were made up of lists of where a person exactly to the best of their recollection went in a day, and where and how were they the most kind during that day. The objects come together to offer, surround and carry the compassion of strangers for the viewer.
